Meet Our Instructors
Reed Prust | Training Manager
Reed is a 24-year Navy veteran who began his career with Interstate Power Systems in 2006. He began as a technician in the truck shop at our Bloomington, MN branch. He took over the training department in 2018 and is a certified trainer for Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, Volvo Industrial, Kohler Marine Generators, and MTU Industrial Engines.
Michael Janikowski | Technical Trainer
Michael gained his vehicle maintenance experience through 12 years with the Minnesota Army National Guard. He came to Interstate Power Systems in 2019 as a technician in the Lakeville, MN truck shop and joined the training department in 2020. He is a certified trainer for Allison Transmission and has run customer classes for Detroit Diesel, Volvo Industrial, and John Deere Marine.

Detroit Diesel Heavy Duty Engine and Aftertreatment Familiarization
This class is an overview of the current Detroit Diesel Heavy Duty Engine Platform. The overview includes: a description of engine components and their functions, description of the aftertreatment emission components, systems and their functions, description of tools and testing procedures, introduction to Diagnostic Link, maintenance procedures related to engine and emission systems, and hands on diagnostic training.

Allison Transmission On-Highway Customer Familiarization
This class is an overview of the 10k Series of Allison On-Highway Transmissions to include the 1000/2000/3000/4000 series. The overview includes: a description of transmission components and their functions, operation of the torque converter, power flow, hydraulics, and electronic controls. Course includes a basic introduction to Allison DOC diagnostic software.

Allison Transmission DOC Reprogramming Certification Course
This class is a high level reprogramming class geared towards body builders. The class will include an introduction to Allison Publications including Tech Data, Allison Hub Premium, and 5th/6th Gen Control Manuals. Students will utilize simulations and hands-on DOC training to gain knowledge on the use of DOC Reprogramming that will include: adding, changing, or updating vocation packages, changing Customer Modifiable Constants (CMCs), updating selectable parameters within data monitors, and changing characteristics within Allison Fuel Sense®. Certification to DOC Reprogramming will be granted upon completion through Noregon.
Note: Students must work for an Allison Distributor, Dealer, or certified Body Builder to attend this class.

Allison Transmission DOC Familiarization
This class is a fleet level training course designed to introduce Allison DOC to technicians with little to no Allison experience. The course introduces the basic functionality of the DOC software. Students will be guided through basic navigation of DOC, instrumentation and testing functions, basic understanding of diagnostic troubleshooting, and troubleshooting manuals. Upon completion of the basic introduction, students will be introduced to real world diagnostic fault cases. These cases will challenge the students on how to use DOC properly to understand diagnostics and troubleshooting with Allison software and publications.
Note: This class is a familiarization class only. No certification or reprogramming access will be granted through completion.
